Houston – Baltimore

I’m watching Texans and Baltimore here in this division series. The Texans were down 17-3, but fought back to make it a 17-13 game. Now Baltimore just got stopped and Texans have the ball.

What are teams trying to prove by going for it on 4th and goal, instead of getting easy points on the goal line? Instead of taking a 7-point lead, they face falling behind if Texas can work its way out and score a touchdown later.

Meanwhile, with the score 17-12, the Texans could have gone for two, but didn’t. The two-pointer isn’t a bad risk.

I see two teams at the opposite end of the spectrum: the Texans take no chances at all, while the Ravens take bad chances.

It’s why we love sports: It’s drama played out on a big stage.

Unless you’re the niners and you have officials who will cheat for your stinking franchise. The niners have never held or committed a penalty. You think I’m going to forget about that stuff?

Last night, I was on Facebook. A friend of mine who hates the niners congratulated Alex Smith. I said I hate the niners and always have. A gang of niners fans came along talking about how great Smith and the niners are. niners fans make me wretch. They are the sporting world’s quintessential bandwagoners. They HATED Alex Smith before yesterday.

All niners fans have the jacket of another team in their closet. Along with…never mind. I’m not trying to get banned from WordPress.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
