Chris Duel fired

Last night, local sports talk radio host Chris Duel got fired. The parent firm stated he was sacked for poor ratings. and their desire to go in another direction.

They should do it about seven more times, for the majority of the local yokels. Virtually every one of them (except for the SportsGrind) deserve to get sacked.

When I listen to local sports talk here, or what passes for it, I think the local populace has never heard anyone from anywhere else. It’s pathetic. You can’t listen to it on the way to work because the hosts are uninformed and generally harp on the same subjects repeatedly. You can’t listen to it on the way home, because the hosts are not only lack knowledge, they feel the need to pimp their web site and the “hot” women on them. Uh, dude: I’m in a CAR! Just like the majority of your listeners who WORK for a living. You really think I’m going to check out your web site? That’s why they call it “drive time!”

I think Walter Pasacrita (sic?) owns Clear Channel. He’s absolutely nauseating. He and local idiot Don Harris gave Greg Popovich a great reason to quit his radio show, by insulting Allen Iverson. Popovich, who obviously didn’t like doing the show, quit in protest. I don’t think anyone else could have survived that mess without getting fired. That is, unless they had pictures of the station owner in bed with a horse.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
