NBA All-Star Game

Disturbingly enough, this All-Star game is exciting. At least in the first half, where Dwayne Wade’s sidekick, Blake Griffith and a number of other players exchanged thunderous dunks. Now in the fourth quarter, the West is killing the East, it’s winning time, and I’m sure the East is going to turn to LB James and his superior.

Interesting, did you see Wade, after getting beaten on a nice spin move, whack Kobe from behind and bloodying his nose? If that was not Wade, that would have been bloody murder. But because that guy is a “superstar”, no one gives him much flak. That’s a bad guy in media-issued good guy clothes. Not that a bad guy is a bad player. Michael Jordan was a bad guy, but one of the top five NBA players of all time.

Lets face it though, LB James is a great player. Especially in games like this that don’t count. It would have been nice if he had done this in last year’s Finals.

Late in the game, with a chance to take the lead, Wade fumbles the ball out of bounds. Now with 22 seconds left, the East trails by one. At least this one got entertaining with the close score.

Anyone notice the West is starting to fold? Now Kobe is going to the line with 18 seconds to go. Interesting. Bryant falls short on the second, Wade gets the rebound and calls timeout. Now the East can take the lead.

After the worst set play in history, Williams shoots an air ball from three. The game is still alive after Griffith makes one of two free throws. 1.1 seconds left and the East trailing by three. They’re guessing LB James. I am too, but for some reason, they have James inbounding the ball. Huh?

Wade misses a wild three, and the West wins, 152-149. It means nothing, but there are some items of interest. First, the East wouldn’t have even been in the game if it hadn’t been for Wade and LB James. Second, they could have won the game if LB James and Wade hadn’t turned the ball over so much at the end.

Durant is the MVP. I don’t understand. He’s one of the players deferring to Kobe at the end. Give credit where credit is due. Kobe is slowing down, but he’s the Man when it comes to him starring with players of his caliber.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
