Peyton Manning to the Broncos

We see where Peyton Manning is headed to the Broncos.

Being a fan of another AFC West team, we are not overly depressed with this maneuver. We’ll probably see some more moves, like Dallas Clark ending up in Denver. I think the Broncos are eventually going to end up regretting this move, to be quite honest. Unlike the AFC South, this division has a strong history of division rivalry.

It’s sad to say, we have a lot of respect for a Denver coach in John Fox. We also think the Broncos have a fairly solid defense, and some signs of a running game. The one thing we don’t think they have is depth. That team, despite the touting of their defense gave up 40 points five times this past season. It’s also the first time since college that Peyton Manning will play his home games outdoors. I think its a huge risk. They’ve essentially bet that they will make the big game with a player recovering from two off-season neck surgeries after having missed an entire season.

And lets face it, who…besides a team who is absolutely desperate for a box office draw OR a guy like a Bill Belichick / Andy Reid would take on St. Tebow? That’s the last guy I’d really, really want on my team if I was a coach. Every time the starter slides just a little bit, you’d hear: “play Tebow. He has a lot of heart, and he tries real, real hard”. From fans, other players and sports talk radio personalities. I’d just wait until they have to either release him or wait on a 5th round pick. Elway can’t talk this guy up with stats like he has compiled.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
