We watched part of tonight’s Indiana-Miami farce. Anyone doubt the Heat were going to win this game? Indiana is the joke I thought they would be.
However, there were two events in this game that prove the NBA is a joke.
Tyler Hansborough got a flagrant-1 for hitting the lovable superstar Dwayne Wade in the face. Maybe he can get basketball ho Gabrielle Union to kiss the wound for him. Anyway, Udonis Haslem retaliated with a two-hander to Hansborough’s face:
He also got a flagrant-1 but the difference between the two fouls is obvious to everyone, including most Heat bandwagoners. Hansborough was clearly going for the ball, while Haslem was clearly aiming for Hansborough’s head.
If the refs in this game had any balls…or didn’t have money riding on the result, they would have tossed Haslem. We’ll see what the league does but the guessing here is, the league wants a Boston – Miami Eastern Conference finals. They won’t give Haslem anything.
At the end of the game, Pacers reserve Lance Stephenson, of the notorious “choke” sign in Game 3, received an elbow to the neck from Miami scrub Dexter Pittman. Pittman received a flagrant-1 for this vicious foul:
That’s a flagrant-1. Are you kidding me?
First off, what’s wrong with these refs is the same thing that’s wrong with the NBA. Uneven officiating, favoritism, whatever. In the NFL, no matter who a guy is, they get judged by the officials.
Wade should have already have been hit with a flagrant in this series. Haslem two-hands a guy in the face and continues to play. Pittman’s only got a flagrant-1 so he will continue to be eligible to play.
Just when the NBA almost gets me to thinking it’s legitimate, it does what it does. Star power.
