Michigan – Alabama

Saw parts of Alabama’s demolition of Michigan on Saturday night.
The Tide rolled.
First off, Nick Saban is the best coach in college football and maybe the best in football period. If that guy has time to prepare, its over. That’s why in a matchup against, say, USC I give the Tide an advantage even though USC has better talent. Saban knows how to pick apart an adversary’s weaknesses better than anyone in the sport.
I also dig what Saban does as a competitor. He likes to play a big early game against an out of conference opponent. Can’t wait till he opens a season against a PAC-12 opponent, since he’s already played ranked Big 10 and ACC teams in openers.
Michigan got their hats handed to them. I like the fact they were willing to play Alabama in Texas, a home game for the Tide. They got demolished but they also got seen on national television. It will help them in recruiting down the road, and it lets you know where your program stands. Hey, if I were an “M” fan, I’d rather get smashed by the defending national champion Tide in a road game than beaten by Appalachian State at home.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
