Rugby

I’m watching what I think is South Africa playing New Zealand in a rugby match on ESPN Desportes.

This is a serious rugged sport. I’ve heard the phrase “Give Blood. Play Rugby.” No kidding. There’s no serious padding but the game is physical and apparently super-dirty.

Who can’t get down with that? Anyway, I can’t understand the damn broadcasters, because of my inability to speak Spanish. But these guys are winners. They know what teamwork is all about.

The score in this one is SA 3, NZ 0. I’m watching New Zealand running the option here. Oh, oh, number 15 gets loose and belly flops into the “end zone.” It’s now NZ 5, SA 3. Apparently they get five for crossing the last line.

Notice, I don’t know the rules but it’s still at least interesting. Its better than soccer. And apparently there’s no fair catches in this one, a dude for NZ just got dogpiled after a kick.

And a dude for South Africa just got waxed on a kick. This is kind of fun.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
