I was out of the area last night so I didn’t see TAM and Alabama. You know, where Johnny Football and TAM defeated Alabama, 29-24 to essentially KO Alabama’s chances to win back-to-back national titles.
It’s clear what happened in that event: Alabama, after winning a very emotionally draining game at LSU lost some edge against a very good TAM team. TAM led, 20-0 before the Tide rallied. Late in the game, with TAM ahead 29-24, AJ McCarron throws a pick to end it.
Now here’s some stuff coming out of this:
The Tide is now 4th in the national rankings, behind Oregon, KState and Notre Dame. Says here the Tide are still in it, but there’s some things that have to fall their way:
Two of those three teams have to take a loss, while the Tide goes through undefeated in the rest of the regular season and the SEC Championship.
Also a big deal is Johnny Football and TAM going to the SEC.
Manziel has to be in the running for the Heismann. Has to be. He’s electrifying. He’s run for over a thousand yards, scored 15 rushing TD’s, 18 passing TD’s and 2780 yards. This is a freshman, playing in the SEC and beating the #1 team in the country on the road. Are you kidding me? The last time I saw something like this, it wasn’t even something like this. Cam Newton went to Alabama and won (albeit in spectacular fashion, but he was also a junior).
TAM to the SEC. Does anyone think that’s a bad move now? Maybe the Tide and SECfan, but in my humble opinion, its a great move for all of their sports, especially football. People were saying that TAM was not going to reach .500 but they look like they’ll play in a New Year’s Day type bowl game.
