BCS Selection Show

Looking at the BCS selection show on ESPN. Wow. Just wow.

There’s sports media outrage over Northern Illinois going to a BCS bowl game. For one of the first times ever, it’s justified. Kirk Herbstreit, one of my favorite analysts actually used our term “are you serious” to describe it.

Why is Kirk Herbstreit one of our favorite analysts? Because he’s a good analyst, for one. The man flat-out knows college football. The main reason is that Herbstreit didn’t repeatedly gawk at Erin Andrews during their broadcasts. That would have been a huge distraction for me, or anyone less professional.

Anyway, this is what YOU wanted. Remember poor Boise State? They were getting frozen out by the mean automatic qualifier conferences. At that point, it was true. Boise State deserved to go to BCS bowls. They passed the eyeball test. Northern Illinois does not. Now the Huskies are going to get annihilated in an obvious mismatch. The days of “Hoosiers” are over.

Northern Illinois beat Kansas by seven. Kansas is flat out horrible. Kansas has lost 12 Xbox 12 games in a row. They lost to Iowa, the worst team in the Big Ten. Are you serious? This team is going to play in a big bowl game?

My stepson is celebrating because he’s a Florida State fan and it looks like they will play the Huskies in the Orange Bowl. I’m sure the Orange Bowl committee is pleased with this pick.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
