LB James and his adoring Media

Did you see the NBA All-Star Game last night?

All weekend, we had been hearing how LB James was the greatest basketball player ever, approaching Jordan-esque status. Certain sports media was pumping this guy up by inventing certain stats like the 60% shooting while scoring 30 or more over six games.

Of course! When most of them are dunks, you should be shooting 60%!

Anyway, in the 4th quarter of last night’s game, Kobe Bryant personally defended against “King James.” Kobe Bryant personally shut down “King”, stuffing two of his shots, knocking the ball off LB James out-of-bounds but (of course) not getting the call and getting a typical “mystery” foul called against him.

Not hearing about any of that this AM. Sports talk radio is talking about the passing of Dr. Jerry Buss and deservedly so. But “King James” getting handled in crunch time at the All-Star Game isn’t even on the scope. They are more worried about Jordan than The King going soft on the big stage.

Is there a player with the sports media more in his corner than LB James? When a superstar like Kobe makes big plays against him and the sports media puts a muffler on it, they love you.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
