Football Season’s Starting Soon

Did you see where the Dolphins and Cowboys started training camp? Football season’s right around the corner. The Hall-of-Fame game, the traditional kick-off to preseason is in two weeks. The Dolphins and Cowboys are playing in that game.

The Dolphins are looking to have a competitive season, where they are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2008.  The Cowboys just fell short again last season, losing their final game at FedEx Field to Robert Griffin III and the Redskins. I’m not sure if Dallas is really content with their team, but it sure looks like it. By the way, the Cowboys have some salary cap difficulties.

The Cowboys camp is off with an unfortunate injury. Tyrone Crawford, last year’s 3rd round pick is out with a leg injury. The Cowboys official website states it could be an Achilles’ injury, which is super-bad news for them if true. They were already thin on the defensive line. The Dolphins just signed their first round pick, Dion Jordan, and he’s going to participate in practice shortly. Miami looks to build on their momentum from the latter portion of 2012 and OTA’s/workouts in 2013.

Everyone’s optimistic now. That’s going to change between now and the first three weeks of preseason. Injuries will mount, teams will start to settle into expectations and then reality will hit. In the meantime, we’re going to have fun with Hope.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
