Just saw the Bears take a 10-0, I mean 17-0 lead over Pittsburgh.
The Steelers are looking like a team that’s gotten rid of its really old guys and the young guys aren’t coming through. In all fairness, the Steelers philosophy has always been to get rid of its aging stars before they couldn’t play anymore. Usually, they’ve had the scouting and development process to get young guys who could play. Not now. The Bears look like they are in jailbreak mode on every pass rush. Pittsburgh is having a difficult time with its pass protections.
The Bears are looking sharp, like a team who finally has the offensive mindset to match its defense. Give credit to Marc Trestman, who is taking advantage of his weapons. Cutler, Marshall, Forte. Cutler isn’t getting hammered like he was in years past; he’s getting the ball out quickly. Pittsburgh isn’t an easy place to play, but the Bears are making it look easy so far. And this is only the first quarter!
Maybe Lovie Smith, fired after a 10-6 season, needed to go.
