Just looked at Deadspin’s “The Worst Stuff from the Miami Dolphins Investigation“. No wonder the NFL chose to have it released on a Friday. It should raise a storm of fecal material in … everywhere.
If that’s deemed “locker room” type “fun”, the Dolphins locker room isn’t very much fun. Not even for those creating the nonsense. For instance:
The evidence supports a finding that Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey repeatedly and persistently made graphic, sexually explicit comments about Martin’s sister, a medical student whom they had never met.
Such as:
We are going to run train on your sister. She loves me. I’m going to fuck her without a condom and cum in her cunt.
Isn’t that “funny?” Here’s a few comments on the trainer:
Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey admitted that they directed racially derogatory words toward him, including “Jap” and “Chinaman.” At times, according to Martin, they referred to the Assistant Trainer as a “dirty communist” or a “North Korean,” made demands such as “give me some water you fucking chink,” spoke to him in a phony, mocking Asian accent, including asking for “rubby rubby sucky sucky,” and called his mother a “rub and tug masseuse.” Martin and others informed us that Incognito and Jerry taunted the Assistant Trainer with jokes about having sex with his girlfriend. Incognito admitted that these types of comments were made to the Assistant Trainer.
Are you kidding? I’ve actually left out other comments that are more horrific. Apparently the offensive line coach, Jim Turner, took part in this nonsense.
During the 2012 Christmas season, Coach Turner gave all of the offensive linemen gift bags that included a variety of stocking stuffers. In each gift bag except for Player A’s, Turner included a female “blow-up” doll; Player A’s bag included a male doll. Martin and another player were surprised that Turner did this; Martin further said that he was offended that Turner had endorsed the humiliating treatment of Player A by participating in it. Incognito and others agreed that this incident with Coach Turner occurred.
Way to go, coach. I understand, a locker room is a place for non-standard behavior. After all, these are guys you are engaging in physical action with. However, the Incognito … and lets face it, Pouncey … behavior is beyond the bounds of anything considered “joking.” There’s certain things you just don’t do, like making comments (and let’s face it, throwing the N-bomb in there isn’t a joke) regarding someone’s race, ethnicity or family member, or sexual orientation in a derogatory manner. Much less “joking” about shooting someone.
In the report, it says the Dolphins had this kind of behavior in their locker room for at least six years. That’s before Philbin arrived. Maybe the players could have figured it out that maybe that’s why the Dolphins have a legacy of suck. You know, their offensive line wasn’t particularly viewed as great even before this; consistently ranking in the bottom half of the league. Uh, maybe they should change their shite attitudes?
And I’ll say this; Jeff Ireland was right in telling Martin he should have beaten Incognito’s ass. A bully turns over a new leaf after getting their ass kicked.
And Jay Glazer should be embarrassed by the softball interview they did with Richie Incognito. Never forget, Fox Sports, is, well, part of Fox, which has never shied away from inserting racism, sexism and a bunch of other -isms into their broadcasts. Then again, Fox is like a whole bunch of other media outlets.
I didn’t like the Dolphins before this incident. I hope they are bad for a long time; seems by the team endorsing their offensive line’s behavior, they’ve kind of ensured it.
