Aren’t you glad the Olympics only come around once every four years?
Did you see the Bodie Miller interview, where he broke down after repeated questions about his deceased brother, Chelone?
Seems like the interviewer, Christin Cooper (a former Olympic medalist herself) wanted the “athlete triumphs over personal tragedy” storyline. What she got instead was the “athlete breaks down under repeated questioning regarding a personal tragedy.”
This could be viewed as a case of sports media douchery, but I don’t think she was trying to be a ‘bag. Even Miller seems to realize its part of the drill, and his emotional breakdown was not necessarily Cooper’s intent.
Still, could you imagine an interviewer asking an NBA player about their deceased father after a championship? Me neither.
