The Lakers are Garbage

Did you see The Lakers last night?

No mistaking it. The Lakers are flat-out garbage.

I’m watching SportsCenter for the first time in forever, and The Lakers stink like a ton of used fish wrap sitting in the midsummer Death Valley sun. They got trampled by the Clippers, 142-94. The Lakers getting whipped by 48 was previously unfathomable. Do you see what Kobe Bryant means to that team?

Furthermore, do you see what Phil Jackson meant to that team? That organization didn’t make a mistake by hiring Mike D’Antoni. They can sack him and bring back Jackson once they get a top-3 pick this summer. By the way, we’re watching Commissioner Silver to see if he’ll engage in the same type of fraud Commissioner Stern engaged in during his tenure; i.e. filtering players towards failing flagship franchises. You know, like the cold envelope for the Knicks when they drafted Patrick Ewing.

I do want to laugh a bit here: Where are all those The Lakers fans from four years ago? Those bandwagoners are now wearing Miami Heat jerseys.

Ha, ha. One of those bandwagoners is  ESPN. They have totally abandoned The Lakers, except for the ratings standpoint. Now, the Clippers get top billing in Los Angeles. THE CLIPPERS! A decent team that’s shown no sign of being able to take the next step, other than they can dunk … and they can dunk.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
