You saw in our prior post how LB James went to Cleveland, leaving South Beach. There are lots of rumors going down; there are some moves being made around the rest of the league.
Miami’s trying to recover. They signed Chris Bosh to a max deal, they’re also trying to bring in Luol Deng while bringing back Dwayne Wade.
The free agent period seems to be less than beneficial to the Houston Rockets. A lot of people here were concerned that the Rockets would land Chris Bosh, giving Houston a powerful lineup with Dwight Howard and James Harden. As we stated above, Bosh is headed back to Miami. The Mavericks signed Chandler Parsons to a 3-year, $46M offer sheet, which Houston can match. The Rockets unloaded Jeremy Lin to The Lakers, along with a 1st rounder for … nothing.
Kevin Love is now interested in going to the Cavaliers. Cleveland could send a mix of draft picks and players to the Timberwolves for Love. A trio like Irving, James and Love could put the Cavaliers near the head of the Eastern Conference, although there’s no telling how the non-playoff tested Irving and Love would be in the NBA playoffs.
The Suns acquired Isiah Thomas in a sign-and-trade with Sacramento, for virtually nothing in exchange. The Kings treatment of Thomas borders on insanity. Apparently, Chicago’s going to lose out on Carmelo Anthony. He’s likely going back to the Knicks for 5 years, $129M. It’s unknown where Pau Gasol is going, but he reportedly tweeted a decision is coming soon. Chicago and San Antonio are allegedly front runners for Gasol’s services, but San Antonio can only offer Gasol the MLE. Gasol wants the Bulls to try and engineer a sign-and-trade; otherwise he’ll take San Antonio’s offer. The Lakers will make that happen, in order to get something out of Gasol. San Antonio would consider it a win to get him out of the Western Conference.
