Saw on ProFootballTalk where Kyle Shanahan is going to give Johnny Manziel time with Cleveland’s first string.
BSP wants to know if it was Shanahan making that decision, or was it “Coach Shanahan, Mr. Haslem is on line 1”?
Meanwhile, Manziel states he’s a better game-day player than in practice:
“Always, for me, I’ve been better in a game situation than I feel I have in practice. But I have to come out here and get better with the reps that I’m getting. That’s the main thing, keep getting better, and then when it’s time to go out and play football, it’s time to play football”
BSP says Manziel’s full of shyte. BSP says a quarterback who doesn’t practice well fails in pro football. BSP says Johnny F. Football is going to get a raw welcome to professional football if he ends up starting Week 1, especially if its an “owner’s decision.” Mark Davis made the Raiders play Terrelle Pryor. Pryor was another player who played better in games and was inspiring to play with. Pryor has incredible physical talent, but may end up out of the league because he cannot play within a system.
Frankly, Shanahan could be doing it just to show Haslem Manziel can’t, or isn’t ready to play. I’d say that’s a safer bet than Manziel suddenly surging ahead in the battle with Brian Hoyer. At least Hoyer has won NFL games.
