Quick Lane Bowl

Are you watching the Quick Lane Bowl? With the score 40-14, it’s clear: Rutgers is okay and North Carolina is garbage.

I’ve always wondered how the ACC destroys football programs. With the exception of Florida State, every single football program going into the ACC goes to crap. Clemson used to be dominant, now they’re ok. Virginia Tech and Miami competed for national titles, now they are has-beens. Syracuse was a legendary program, slid before it left the Big East, now they are average.

Wonder no more: The ACC has academic standards. If you have academic standards, you’re not going to have a great football team. Not to say football players are dunces; they are not. But when you have to have academic priorities, you are not going to find them at football factories.

Let me change my mind: Rutgers is garbage too. They just allowed North Carolina to score again then recover an onside kick. With 4:50 left, there’s plenty of time to embarrass themselves by allowing North Carolina to come back.

On 4th and four, I just saw a North Carolina wide receiver, Quinshad Davis, get hurt on an overthrown ball. Sad, I think the young man broke his leg. Now they are bringing out the card and inflating an air cast. Very sad.

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
