Hiding Disasters

Ok, I’m reading about New England and their “deflating” the football during the AFC conference championship game. People, especially major sports media like Mike and Mike filleted the Patriots for destroying Indianapolis while using partially inflated footballs. In fact, some Twitter handle they were touting was the #1 handle this morning. Indianapolis tried to get the balls to the officials so they could measure them. Rat Hall of Famers!

What we at BSP Central want to know is why this is a bigger deal than all the other stuff going on in the NFL:

Clay Matthews kill shot on Russell Wilson: Clay Matthews tried to end Russell Wilson’s game on a kill shot. The attempted game-ender was flagged for a blindside block. I didn’t know there was a penalty for such a thing.

Mike McCarthy isn’t fired. Neither is Dom Capers. We can’t understand why. As a team five minutes from the Super Bowl, with a first down, you expect to win. Green Bay had to come back down the field and score with only a few yyyyjust to send it into overtime.

Someone outside the local is damn glad the Patriots didn’t fill those footballs full of air

About bittersportspills

I love sports. I don't love the hype, homerism, ratings talk, self-important egomaniacs, bias or any of the other nonsense you get with the national media. Nor will you get the two clowns on sports talk radio who stage phony arguments. It doesn't make it entertaining. It makes it time to turn on your iPod and jam instead of listening to white noise generators. This is the sports blog for you, the ones who don't like everything Los Angeles or New York. Just because the sporting media is based there doesn't mean we have to like their teams. We do treat them fairly, though. That means if one of those cities has an average QB who plays particularly well...we'll note it. If they're garbage, we'll say so. Instead of crying "why, why, why" like a certain sports media homer did in his radio broadcast. This isn't my job...I have a real one. Nevertheless, I'll post here when I make an observation. Common sense in sports is nearly dead. Now we're attempting to bring it back.
